Rachael’s mum was 59 and diagnosed with stomach cancer in July 2015. After fighting the stomach cancer with chemotherapy the tumour reduced and her mum was progressing well. However, at the end of November her health deteriorated and she was admitted to hospital in early December. The cancer had spread to her brain and sadly she passed away on 5th December.
Since losing her mum, Rachael has been on a mission to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Overall she has raised over £4,000 which will support research and local funding for individuals and families affected by cancer.
On 25th November Rachael hosted a Biq Quiz for Cancer Research UK in her home village of Peterculter. The eleven participating teams helped to raise £750.
Nucore Group has matched this sum to support Rachael in her fundraising efforts. Last week Rachael and our HR Manager Jackie Donald handed over the cheque for £1,500 to Aberdeen’s Cancer Research representative, Fiona Harvey.
We want to say a huge well done to Rachael for all her fundraising achievements and to everyone who has supported her over the year.
